The Infoprint 6700 is available with a print width (nominal) of four, six or eight inches with print resolutions of 203 or 300 dpi. These printers offer a large tape capacity for continuous printing and compatibility with label applications that now run on the IBM 4400 thermal label printer. Standard programming languages include Code V, IGP, ASCII and emulations for Zebra printers , TEC, Sato and Intermec. IPDS ™ is an optional feature. Available accessories include standard and parallel serial ports, wireless and Ethernet LAN, and twinax / coax. The available software provides remote configuration and remote management capability.

Media management modes: The printer operates in two basic modes: batch and on demand. The batch mode is used to print and collect labels for later use. On demand mode is used in applications where labels will be used immediately after printing.
In batch mode, the printer unrolls media from the media supply axis and prints the labels.
In Peel-off mode, the printer unrolls the media from the supply shaft, prints the label, automatically detaches the media label from the media holder, and leaves the label peeled off in the printer's mouth. Then, the printer rewinds the waste label holder on the internal rewind axis. The label display sensor detects when the label has been removed, and then the printer retracts the media before printing the next label.
In Tear-Off mode, the printer unrolls the media from the supply shaft, prints the label and leaves the label in the printer's mouth (aligning the tear point on the cutter bar). The label presentation sensor detects when the label has been removed, and then the printer retracts the media before printing the next label (to avoid losing a form).
Tear-Off Strip Mode
In Tear-Off Strip mode, the printer unwinds the media from the supply spindle and continues printing until the print buffer is empty. Next, the printer places the last label for removal by aligning the cut point on the cutter bar. The tag presentation sensor can be used in the Tear-Off Strip mode to detect when a tag has been removed. When the printer's buffer is reloaded, the printer will retract the paper before resuming printing to avoid losing a form.
